Sensei Anthony 101: IMC Liverpool Interview Series

Sensei Anthony Bilotta

How did you start at IMC and what style?

When I was a kid my favourite TV shows were all Martial Arts based: Ninja turtles, Avatar and especially Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! I was always telling my mum I wanted to be just like the characters in those tv shows, so she did some research and found IMC Kemps Creek. I went in for my trial karate lesson and fell in love instantly.

How old were you when you started at IMC?

I had just turned 7.

What is your favourite style or class to train in?

Over the years I have taken up all styles that IMC offer, I enjoy aspects of all styles, but karate will always be my favourite.

What is the most difficult decision you've had to make in your career?

To be fair the hardest decision I've had to make hasn't even been made yet. The decision to either pursue school teaching full time or instructing full time. As of last year I graduated university and I'm currently balancing working in both teaching and instructing. It's never too much as long as you love what you are doing.

What do you like to do when your not at IMC?

I have a few hobbies outside of IMC. I've always been a bit of a movie/tv buff, watching both classic and modern films. I also enjoy experimenting in my workshop at home, building projects and small renovations.

What is your favourite colour?

Blue

How many siblings do you have?

Two siblings, an older sister (Carina) and a younger brother (Sensei Alex).

When you were younger, what did you want to do when you grew up?

I want to say a power ranger! In terms of career I had plans to become a cabinet maker, but since realising my passion for teaching, my goal was to become a teacher.

What are you looking forward to when IMC reopens?

Definitely can't wait to get back into a regular training schedule, and also can't wait to get back to instructing and seeing all my students.
